Chapter 1 - Page 2

In which Our Heroine ponders upon her dilemma.

NOTES

I have completely forgotten how I did that grass effect. That’s kind of irritating. I really like it.

The name Acer State University, like so many things in SCWONKEY DOG, was conjured up in a very spur-of-the-moment fashion when I found that, oh crap, I needed a name for something — in this case, I needed to come up with a quick university seal design for a podium that once appeared a few pages along. A quick Google search showed it wasn’t a real place, so it stuck. Actually, the last non-Macintosh computer my parents owned (before they had to buy one for my sister’s college classes a few years ago) was an Acer-brand computer; that’s probably where it came from. I was trying to come up with something that suggested “WE’RE NUMBER ONE! WOO-HOO!”

This overhead shot of Jennifer laying on the fountain was probably lodged in my head for something like three, maybe four years before I got to realize it on this page. That’s kind of scary, now that I think about it. It was the one strong image of this opening story arc that stuck through draft after draft leading up to August of ‘07.
