In which Zappilious scores his second kill for the day as Jennifer drinks the night away.
NOTES
The Red Force android sees in green (see previous page) but has red eyes. Hm. I can’t remember — was that a page mood thing, or was the former a reference to something and the latter just “red eyes look cooler” or what? Whatever. It looks fine. Right?
On Zappy killing THIS Red Force android … I originally had another goofy “head popping off” explosion like his previous kill, but the panel was pretty dull, with the same straight-on angle of the past two panels of the android. I decided I needed a cooler, more dramatic shot this time — something that actually showcases Zappy and doesn’t have him all tiny in the background. The shot you see here, where he’s blasting the ‘bot in the back, was the last one I did before ordering up my first proof/prototype hard copy of this chapter in comic book form. I was considering replacing the panel of Zappy holding the sci-fi gadget with a shot of him sort of poking at the android’s burned-out shell with his rifle, but that’s a nice enough drawing and isn’t as much of a cliche as the new art would have been.
Dante Brooks was supposed to be, like, a total cool guy — after all, he’s named after a person in my stupid life who I don’t mind at all. Then, in the few days it took me to make this and the next page, Dante Brooks made some bad choices in some future chapters and became a guy I really wasn’t fond of. Funny how characters can surprise you like that.
