In which we find that our Big Bad Villain has daddy issues.
FIRST APPEARANCE – Lord Red Dog II
This is the first time you see the Red Dog, the “dark overlord” figure of Scwonkey Dog, and is the first time you get a really good look at his son, Antoine Rigel. Scwonkey has been fighting a Red Dog (it is just a title) for as long as I can remember. The current Red Dog isn’t a particularly active figure, though, so here we have his son taking the lead villain role. Rigel, like Nathan Bostworth, is a modern (within the last five or six years) character with an old name; Rigel was originally a short, green-haired poor man’s ZapStar developed for one of my high school Scwonkey Dog scripts. That Rigel ultimately betrayed Scwonkey and Nate, so I figured the name worked for a bad guy. I also It’s got a nice late ’70s bad sci-fi ring to it; it suits a guy who flies around in a beat up old rabbit-shaped spaceship (which, itself, dates back to my grade school Scwonkey Dog doodlings). I also decided to keep the green hair, because it looks cool.
